The Slow Revolt
For:
First Regional UK Tour
South-East London’s Joe Mirza, performs under the alias The Slow Revolt, producing a rare brand of contemporary electronic soul. Songs led by a stunning, expressive voice, contrast lush romantic lyricism with art-school high concept; pinpoint beat programming with wild guitar abstractions. First made visible via his rework of Patten’s Peachy Swan, his subsequent debut This Dark Matter EP struck a chord with XfM, Clash, 6music and Radio1. The following releases, Never Get Close and All Your Own received similar support in both the UK and stateside, and he now looks forward to a regional UK tour this autumn, including appearances at Simple Things and Drill Festivals.
“As an unsigned artist, my main challenges are recording my music, finding an audience and financing a touring unit that can faithfully recreate the complexities of the recorded work: a task that takes great preparation and rehearsal, and the right musicians.
The PRS for Music Foundation award gives me the ability to do this – to support two singles, getting them heard both live, on radio and blogs, and making it possible for me to take The Slow Revolt to a point where I’m able to write an album to sign.”
