Jay Weathers: The Writer Producer Fund

Jay Weathers is no stranger to the world of songwriting and music production. The Hackney-born producer has worked diligently behind the scenes for the better part of a decade, to become a now go-to name for the widest range of artists.

Studying Computer Music at university in Manchester, he looked to a varied range of influences, citing Timbaland, Max Martin, Brian Eno and Dr Dre as just a snapshot of what has shaped his musical ear. This wide palette of influences is most evident in the list of artists Jay has worked with. These include UK MCs like Yungen and Wiley, R&B artists like Jacob Banks & Ray BLK and Afrobeat golden boy, Mr Eazi. More recently he earned his first Top 20 single, co-writing and producing “My Lover” for Not3s, which has now sold over a quarter million copies.

A versatile lyricist, musician and producer, it’s fair to say Jay Weathers has put his 10,000 hours in to cultivating his career behind the boards. Here’s to the next 10,000 hours.

Jay Weathers said:

I’d like to thank The Writer Producer Fund for giving me their support at a pivotal point in my career. It has helped supplement key production equipment and will enable me to work on music projects more overseas. Schemes like this are crucial in providing musicians that further boost in an industry where it is increasingly challenging to balance finances and creativity.”
