Tinderbox Orchestra: Tinderbox Orchestra UK Library Tour
Tinderbox Orchestra UK Library Tour
The Tinderbox Orchestra UK Library Tour will feature Tinderbox Orchestra’s dynamic 20-piece band of rappers, singers, a fully amplified backline, and orchestral instruments – along with new music and collaborations from Scottish-based rapper Prolly Edible, alt-folk duo The Jellyman’s Daughter, and singer-songwriter HOUSEKIND.
Following their sell-out, 5-star show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this tour will expand their reach while while championing the ‘We Make Music Instrument Libraries’ initiative, a national campaign to get musical instruments into public libraries across Scotland. The tour is a platform for the Orchestra and collaborators to showcase their new music, innovative collaborations and performances, and reach new audiences and communities beyond Scotland. Furthermore, the tour aims to inspire UK libraries to join the instrument library initiative, enhancing music accessibility on a national level.
The show features Tinderbox Orchestra’s latest single Tribes – a powerful combination of rap, heavy guitars and orchestral instrumentation that explores fear-mongering and tribal mentality – as well as orchestral arrangements of soon-to-be-released compositions by Jellyman’s daughter and Housekind. It also highlights a special collaboration and new composition with poet Hannah McCooke, inspired by the instrument libraries campaign. The tour will span 5 libraries in Scotland (Fife & Edinburgh), England (Manchester & Newcastle) and Ireland (Dublin).
Tinderbox Orchestra is part of the wider Tinderbox Collective, a community of musicians, artists, young people and youth workers based in Edinburgh. From grass-roots youth work to award-winning arts and music productions, our work aims to ignite a spark in people and bring communities together.
