Tom Aspaul: PPL Momentum

Tom Aspaul is a singer, songwriter and producer hailing from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. Having worked mostly as a top-liner for other artists (including credits for Kylie Minogue, Celeste, Snakehips and AlunaGeorge), 2019 saw him focus solely on his own music as an artist.

His self-funded, self-released and critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Black Country Disco’ was released September 2020 and described by Gay Times as ‘Queer disco album of the year’, Stereoboard as a ‘solid contender for album of the year’ and GQ as ‘utterly luscious’, amassing over 1.5 million streams in the process so far.

‘Black Country Disco’ saw Tom grow his skills as a writer and producer whilst also learning how to deliver a successful PR campaign, short film, merch and physical release (via crowdfunding). Due to the current situation, Tom was not able to tour this record, however, looking to the future, Tom is excited to take stock of everything learned on his debut album campaign and apply it to album number two, only bigger and better – aiming for release 2021.

The Momentum Music Fund will help fund the production and promotion of this as-yet-untitled album – including a short film, a PR budget, vinyl pressing (without crowdfunding) and, hopefully a mini-tour, to give both his debut and sophomore albums the chance to finally shine in a live setting.
