Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales: TDN 2026

Short Project Title: Tŷ Cerdd CoDI 26-27

Bio: Tŷ Cerdd / Music Centre Wales works with artists, partners and communities to promote and develop the music of Wales. Talent development is central to the organisation’s mission, complemented by in-house recording studio, record label, publishing imprint and archive. We envisage a Wales in which music-creators of all genres and backgrounds are enabled to make music and develop careers; in which a diversity of people and communities can engage in and enjoy Welsh music. If you’re making music in Wales, it’s Welsh music!

Programme Description: Tŷ Cerdd’s CoDI Composer Development Programme 2025-26 is an initiative to support and enable music- creators across a wide range of genres around Wales, offering artist-led creative interventions alongside professional and career development opportunities. Artists and their creativity are nurtured through a lens of diversity and access. This year’s activity includes:

CoDI Côr: A developmental pathway in writing for community choir, which aims to open the Welsh choral tradition to a broader range of artists and musical influences. Pathway to the Orchestra: A creative development strand for artists who have not had access to conservatoire training, but who have an ambition to develop their practice and aesthetic using orchestral/acoustic instruments. Medal y Cyfansoddwr: Offering artists the opportunity to develop skills in writing for ensemble at The National Eisteddfod; a landmark event in Welsh (and Welsh-language) culture.Bwthyn Sonig: Enabling learning-disabled artists to develop skills and express original music. This year’s activity also includes expanding new partnerships and activity in North Wales. OFF-GRID: Activity supporting experimental artists across Wales. INTERACT: A combination of online and in-person sessions, including the development of Accessible Networking opportunities for disabled and neurodivergent artists.
