Violet : Women Make Music

Stephanie Singer is an award winning composer, artist and the founding creative director of BitterSuite. Her work has been called ‘disarmingly intimate’ by vice and ‘witty, and slightly macabre’ by the New York Times. Recently she composed and created the immersive music experience ‘Bodies Tilted’ an original commissioned by Southbank Centre for the Christine and the Queens’ Meltdown 2023. Quizzical, future facing and here to play, Stephanie’s passion is to celebrate the chaotic and messy realities of what it means to be human, and create music experiences that bring us together.

Violet Disruption – By Stephanie Singer

Stephanie will be devoting the Women Make Music fund to the final compositional process + mix & master for her brand new music experience ‘Violet Disruption’. Violet Disruption is a 90-minute immersive concept album confronting sexual violence in modern times. It arrives both as an album and then later as a subsequent live experience, featuring original music, verbatim material gathered from suriviors inside the UK criminal justice system, live performance and experience design all co-created with survivors of sexual violence. Violet Disruption is a celebration of healing through pleasure, the erotic and rage. Beckoning audiences towards a future that starts with the ecstatic liberation of the dancefloor.
