Short Project Title: WMC Next Steps Programme
Bio: Founded in 2017, WMC is a charity based in Sunderland, which delivers high-quality music-making programmes across the city. Our core project is Young Musicians Project- weekly, free to access groups for young people (aged 13-19) to develop instrumental skills, write and play together, and to take the first steps towards gigging, recording and releasing their music. The Next Steps Programme will allow us to continue to support those young people in the transition to becoming independent artists and build sustainable careers in the music industry.

Programme Description:
We Make Culture’s Next Steps Programme will support emerging music creators in Sunderland and the wider North East. It will consist of a yearly programme of workshops, mentoring and bursary support which aims to support local music creators to develop their work and progress to regional and national opportunities. We want Next Steps to strengthen our local scene by supporting the music-making community and helping to develop a network of collaboration, peer support and expertise.
