Wendy Cave: POWER UP Industry Professional

Bio: Wendy is a music fanatic proudly born and raised in Liverpool. She’s an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Eco-therapist and Accredited Coach. She is passionate about supporting mental health and wellbeing in the music industry.Wendy began her music career at Gilles’ Peterson’s seminal Talkin’ Loud label, and went on to RCA / BMG and Polydor / Universal / Interscope to deliver marketing campaigns for some of the world’s most exciting artists (Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell / N.E.R.D, The Black Eyed Peas, Q-Tip, Beck, 50 Cent, Angie Stone, Lana Del Rey and more). She’s worked in artist management and has promoted her own shows in Liverpool (Peter Hook & the Light, Sugarhill Gang & the Furious 5, Red Rum Club etc). As a Partner at Counterculture she was Project Manager on UK Music’s groundbreaking research report ‘Black Music Means Business‘, which launched at Parliament in March, 2026. This assessed the economic value of Black British music over the last thirty years and sets out recommendations for a more inclusive and equitable music industry. In other research, she has led on stakeholder consultation for Generator and The Glasshouse in the North East, an evaluation for SXSW London and Generator and Tees Music Alliance’s Sonic Futures. Wendy is a member of BAATN (The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network), and sits on the MITC (Music Industry Therapist Collective) EDI Group, Music Futures EDI Advisory Forum and the Sound City Board.

Concise Description of activity: My Power Up grant will support me in expanding my psychotherapy and coaching practice, and completing my psychotherapy Masters.
