Malaika: Women Make Music

Through Women Make Music, Malaika has revived support from the PRS Foundation to record and launch her first official single in 2016.

Malaika is a multi instrumentalist, songwriter and performer from Ireland who explores the possibilities of combining Jazz, Soul and Pop. After relocating to Leeds, Malaika settled quickly into the music scene playing underground venues while studying for her BA in Popular Music. She quickly began collaborating with various musicians to realize her sound who together lace her music with rhythmic stabs and harmonious textures that ebb and flow around Malaika’s soulful and wispy vocals perfectly. This newer, more developed and maturer sound accelerated Malaika’s exposure and within her first year she had received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2, supported X Factor finalist Luke Friend and was hand picked by Jamie Cullum to perform at The Montreal International Jazz Festival 2015.
