Workers Union Ensemble
Constructing a Repertoire
Find out more by visiting:
The Workers Union Ensemble initially came together in 2008 for a performance of Louis Andriessen’s epic work of the same name, gradually evolving into the current unusual six-piece line-up of oboe, saxophone, two percussion, double bass and piano.
The scarcity of repertoire for such a line-up has led to the ensemble asking a number of composers to write new pieces during the past four years. These works form the foundations of a repertoire that PRSF funding will allow the ensemble to build upon through an exciting commissioning programme and call for works. The project will culminate in performances of the new works in Southampton, Birmingham and at LSO St Luke’s, London, in the autumn of 2013.
