Maximum applications per year
How many times can you apply in one calendar year?
Due to high levels of demand for our funding schemes, we have to restrict the number of applications per calendar year from organisations, industry professionals and music creators across all of our funding schemes.
| Name of Funding Scheme | Number of Applications per Calendar Year |
| The Open Fund for Music Creators | 1 |
| Women Make Music | 1 |
| PPL Momentum Music Fund | 2 |
| International Showcase Fund | 2 |
| Early Career Promoter Fund | 2 |
| All Other Schemes | 1 |
How many different schemes can you apply to in one calendar year?
You can apply for a maximum of 3 different schemes per calendar year.
We advise individual composers, artists, bands and other music creators to choose the most appropriate funding scheme between The Open Fund for Music Creators and our targeted support schemes such as Women Make Music, PL Momentum Accelerator, The Composers Fund, The Hitmaker Fund, PPL Momentum Music Fund, POWER UP and Keychange.
Exceptions for music creators include International Showcase Fund, BBC Music Introducing Partnership, Musician in Residence, Prelude, Classical:Next Fellowships and Glastonbury Emerging Talent.
For Industry Professionals, you should choose between Early Career Promoter Fund, PPL Momentum Accelerator, Power Up and Keychange.
For Organisations, you should choose between Talent Development Network, Beyond Borders, New Music Biennial, and Resonate.
Please contact the team if you are unsure which funding scheme is most appropriate.
How many times can you be funded in one calendar year?
Organisations are restricted to receiving one grant per calendar year with the exception of our UK commissioning programmes Beyond Borders and New Music Biennial. For example, an organisation applying to New Music Biennial may apply for and receive support for Beyond Borders.
Members of the Talent Development Network may also only apply to our UK commissioning programmes noted above and cannot apply to any Music Creator or Industry Professional schemes.
Industry Professionals are also restricted to receiving one grant per calendar year.
Music creators are also restricted to receiving one grant per calendar year.
Those in receipt of Industry Funds (i.e. PPL Momentum, International Showcase Fund) grantees are invited to contact the grants team if they wish to apply for a separate industry fund (e.g. a PPL Momentum artist seeking International Showcase Fund support in the same calendar year). International Showcase Fund grantees should contact the team to apply for another showcase in the same calendar year.
Please note, Women Make Music grantees are encouraged to progress to other funding schemes such as The Open Fund for Music Creators, PPL Momentum Accelerator or PPL Momentum Music Fund and will therefore be unable to receive repeat funding through the Women Make Music scheme.
Examples of who this may affect
- Music creators who are being commissioned by more than two organisations applying to us for support AND/OR who wish to apply on their own behalf. We can only accept a maximum of three applications a year where the composer is the main music creator in the project, e.g. music creator or workshop leader.
- Music creators who have a current grant (i.e. PPL Momentum, Women Make Music) and have been invited to perform at an international showcase event or attend an international writing camp, may apply to the International Showcase Fund.
- International Showcase Fund grantees should contact the team to apply for another showcase or international writing camp in the same calendar year.
Exceptions
- Festivals may apply even if a music creator on their bill has been confirmed on other funded festival programmes.
- Music Creator or Industry Professional grantees may apply to Early Career Promoter Fund, should you be able to demonstrate how your work as a promoter differentiates from the activities of your previous grant. It should though be noted that PRS Foundation are most likely to prioritise those who have not yet received any support.
- Music Creator and Industry Professional grantees may apply to PPL Momentum Accelerator (as an Industry Professional), should you be able to demonstrate how your project differentiates from the activities of your previous grant. It should though be noted that PRS Foundation are most likely to prioritise those who have not yet received any support.
- Power Up and Keychange grantees may apply to the following PRS Foundation next level schemes (i.e. PPL Momentum Fund, The Hitmaker Fund and The Composers’ Fund), however, they cannot be for the same project/activity and if successful, awards would be granted following completion of the participant programme.
If I am a previous grant recipient, what else can I apply for?
The following funds you may receive more than once (note we may prioritise those who’ve not received PRS Foundation funding previously):
- Early Career Promoter Fund
- Open Fund for Music Creators
- International Showcase Fund
- BBC Music Introducing
If you are a recipient of any of the following funds you may not apply to any other PRS Foundation programmes (unless covered by the exceptions below):
- PPL Momentum Fund
- The Hitmaker Fund
- The Composers’ Fund
Exceptions
- If a music creator grantee received funding for an alternative project i.e. band, and this project no longer is active, and they have developed a new direction/focus then they may apply for other music creator schemes, but it is likely that PRS Foundation will prioritise those who have not received funding support from PRS Foundation before.
- All previous music creator grantees can apply to the International Showcase Fund
