Eamon Murray

Eamon Murray from Randalstown, Co. Antrim is one of the most respected bodhrán players in Irish music. He is described by Johnny McDonagh (De Dannan/Arcady) as “the future of bodhrán playing”, and by the Irish Echo’s Earle Hitchner as “one of the most captivating bodhrán players I’ve heard in years”.

In recent years Eamon was recruited to the events team at two multi-award winning cultural centres ‘An Droichead’ and more recently, ‘Cumann Cultúrtha Mhic Reachtain’, both organisations in his new hometown of Belfast. With Cumann Cultúrtha Mhic Reachtain Eamon is responsible for implementing new and innovative traditional music programmes and advising the organisation on fresh emerging talent to present to the local community.

As well as his passion for Traditional music and arts, Eamon has a broad interest in the arts and works with local magazines. He regularly contributes to BBC’s ‘Across The Line’ as a gig reviewer of the Belfast music scene as well as hosting his own blog.

Eamon is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast where he undertook a BA in Ethnomusicology. He has a keen interest in music fusion and has worked many cross-genre projects including the famous drum ensemble from the Netherlands, ‘Drums United’.
