The winners of this year\u2019s Parliamentary Jazz Awards<\/strong> were announced on Monday 26 July at a virtual ceremony with many of the categories honouring the increasing number of high-profile women involved in the UK\u2019s jazz scene.<\/p>\n These include saxophonist Nubya Garcia<\/strong> (also nominated for this year\u2019s Mercury Music Prize<\/strong>) winning Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year<\/strong>; KOKOROKO<\/strong> featuring powerful horn section trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey, saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi and trombonist Richie Seivewright, winning Jazz Ensemble of the Year<\/strong>; 24-year-old drummer Jas Kayser<\/strong> won Jazz Newcomer of the Year<\/strong>; while revered singer Norma Winstone MBE<\/strong>, was presented with the prestigious Services to Jazz Award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Chi Onwurah MP<\/strong>, Deputy Chair of APPJAG<\/strong>: \u201cThis has been another really strong year for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in terms of talent and nominations.
