Arun Ghosh, clarinettist, educator, composer and UK pioneer of the modern Indo Jazz sound will travel to Wuhan, Central China.

Arun has released three critically acclaimed albums, Northern Namaste (2008), Primal Odyssey (2011) and A South Asian Suite (2013) on camoci records as well as composing a re-score of feature length animation The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and contemporary dance work, A Handful of Dust.

A key player on the UK jazz scene and a renowned innovator of the Indo Jazz style, Arun has toured extensively with his bands and receives regular airplay across local, national and online radio. In addition, Arun is currently Associate Artist of the Albany Theatre, Deptford and Spitalfields Music, a position he also occupied at the Southbank Centre in 2011.

Here’s what Arun had to say about his forthcoming residency with K11 and VOX:

“I am delighted to have been selected to be a Musician in Residence in Wuhan, China, as part of the second edition of the PRSF / British Council scheme. Being a musician in residence will bring wonderful opportunities to create new work with Chinese artists, and perform to Chinese audiences in this vibrant and thriving city. China is a new country for me, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in its art and culture, both contemporary and traditional. It will, I hope, be a tremendously inspiring time, and could lead to some wonderful cross-collaboration and creation.”
