The Comet is Coming: Momentum

Exploding out of indispensable Hackney talent factory Total Refreshment Centre in 2014 before proceeding to tear the roofs off many of the world’s foremost concert halls, The Comet is Coming are King Shabaka (sax), Danalogue The Conqueror (synths) and Betamax Killer (drums).

Their debut album Channel The Spirits was released on The LEAF Label in April 2016 to widespread critical rapture with DJ Magazine hailing a “…truly brilliant release…formed in the spirit of trailblazing jazz renegades Sun Ra, Art Ensemble Of Chicago and Ornette Coleman…” and The Quietus calling it “…completely explosive and spontaneous, overflowing with the high energy of a party in full swing…”.

The band’s ensuing victory lap of the solar system achieved full orbit later that summer with their nomination for the 12 album Mercury Music Prize shortlist alongside 2016 releases by Anohni, David Bowie, Radiohead and Bat for Lashes.

They begin 2017 with live dates in Europe, the UK and Australia before heading into the studio to begin work on their Momentum funded second album.
