This Is The Kit: Momentum

This Is The Kit is the beloved musical project of one Kate Stables, plus a revolving cast of musical merrymakers. This Is The Kit came in to existence in the mid 00s when Winchester born Kate moved to Bristol to continue her musical education, before upping sticks and moving to Paris. It was here where her debut album Krulle Bol took shape, recorded and produced by PJ Harvey’s long-standing musical collaborator John Parish. Her second album, 2010’s Wriggle Out The Restless was made in France alongside members of Francois and the Atlas Mountains before final touches from TITK’s extended musical family were added in Bristol, Belgium and several points in between.

This Is The Kit released their third album Bashed Out in 2015. Produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, it was acclaimed critically and quickly seen as a breakthrough record. It’s been a triumphant twelve months for This Is The Kit, with the album picked as Guy Garvey’s Album of The Year for 2015 on BBC 6 Music, and packed out performances across the country including a headline show at the Scala and playing at the 6 Music Festival, Glastonbury and upcoming shows at Womad, Festival No 6 and more.

The grant will go toward covering recording costs for This Is The Kit’s new album plus production costs associated with This Is The Kit’s live performances over the summer.
