Cheltenham Festivals of Jazz and Music: The Open Fund for Organisations
For:
Cheltenham Festivals of Jazz and Music
At Cheltenham Festivals of Jazz and Music, audiences will be inspired by a diverse range of music. From Dave Maric’s piano concerto to the interactive Dinner Games musical experience created by pianists Sarah Nicolls and Kit Downes, we will premiere exceptional new pieces of music in specially curated programmes.
Cheltenham Jazz Festival (27th April – 2nd May 2016) will have its trademark mix of home-grown talent and up-and-coming new artists. British composer Alexander Hawkins’ commission will be performed as a large-scale outdoor performance moving through the festival site. We will also host the UK premiere of Let It Be Told by saxophonist Julian Arguelles.
Cheltenham Music Festival (1st – 17th July 2016) features one of the most stylistically varied collections of composers presented at the Festival in recent years. At its heart, the Keyboard Inventions strand will explore Erik Satie’s experimental legacy in a wide-ranging exploration of 20th and 21st-century keyboard – from a Moog Ensemble to an avatar pianist; an inside-out grand piano to an electronically-augmented upright, the Festival will include premieres and recent work from Jonathan Dove, Dave Maric, Kathy Hinde, Arlene Sierra, Neil Luck, Adam de la Cour, Will Gregory and more.
