Scottish Music Centre: Talent Development Fund 2020
The Scottish Music Centre is the only organisation that provides a range of interlinked national talent development projects for young people aged 14-25 in Scotland’s informal sector.
Projects cover the whole of Scotland from the far north to the Borders and are free of charge to participants and audiences.
The Scottish Music Centre is Scotland’s music information hub, music archive and resource for the music sector and the general public. Their remit is to promote Scotland’s music nationally and internationally, to support musicians, composers and writers and to widen young peoples’ access to and participation in music.
2020 – 2021:
A suite of three interlinked talent development programmes for young musicians age 14+: Hit The Road, MusicPlus & NEW MusiCares for care experienced young people.
Hit The Road: open to all genres but applications tend to come mainly from indie, rock, pop and singer songwriters, with the occasional folk music applicant.
MusicPlus: designed to cater for every music genre imaginable and regularly works with indy, singer songwriter, folk, rock, pop and jazz/ classical mentees.
MusiCares: open to all genres, again mainly popular music/indie and singer songwriter applications/referrals to the fore in applications thus far in first year.
