Amaroun: Women Make Music
‘ Mars’
Amaroun’s work‘ Mars’ is an album and visual accompanied by workshops that connect her with the queer community.
All three parts explore the black queer experience, alongside themes of belonging, loneliness, oppression, communion & self expression; a journey into history, memories, religion, identity, repression & ultimately breaking free, created for all those like Amaroun, existing at the intersections of their heritage & identity –– Amaroun embarks on this project to connect with them, to build community & to encourage self acceptance in the face of all forms of rejection and oppression.
Women Makes Music will support Amaroun by funding the parts of the project to help the project be seen in spaces that the artist couldn’t otherwise gain access to.
