Albert Doku (AKA Ras Kwame)

Ras Kwame is a British musician, record producer, radio DJ and presenter. He started in the music industry as a club DJ playing hip hop, R&B and reggae in the early 1990s. During that time, Kwame took control of the turntables for artists such as Gang Starr, Public Enemy, Wu Tang Clan, London Posse and the Fugees.

As a national broadcaster, Ras has a radio career that’s taken in lengthy stints with BBC1Xtra (his revolutionary 100% Homegrown Show – 2002 – 2011) and BBCRadio1 (Ras Kwame on Radio1 – 2005 – 2013) pioneering and giving career starts to the likes of Emilie Sande, MNEK, Fuse ODG, Giggs and many more, Ras is respected widely as a leading industry tastemaker dj.

He currently presents his new show brand ‘The Reggae Recipe’ Sunday nights on Globals’ Capital Xtra, a tastemaker show featuring the freshest dancehall and reggae with guest mixes and interviews.

The show spans the spectrum of the modern Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobashment and Uk sound space, with previous guests including the likes of Koffee, Beenie Man, Stylo G, Stonebwoy, Skillibeng, Protoje Stefflon Don ,Sean Paul, Kranium, Lila Ike, Skip Marley, Mr Vegas, Alicai Harley and General Levy.

Ras has performed live at events locally and worldwide including Glastonbury, Outlook Festival, Rototom Festival, SxSw, Notting Hill Carnival, The Bowery Ballroom, The Roundhouse, One Love Festival, City Splash, ReggaeLand, Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise with concert sets for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Sean Paul, Popcaan and Damian Marley.
