Azekel: Power Up Music Creator

Originally from Nigeria, Azekel Adesuyi moved with his family at the age of five to his native East London. In England, he developed an early interest in numerous forms of music and taught himself to play guitar and keyboards, which led to writing songs and eventually production. He started to build an audience with the release of his first EP, 2015’s Raw, Vol. 1, with “New Romance,” a booming and buzzing track that was wholly modern yet out of step with commercial R&B. Prince, one of his key inspirations, tweeted support.

Azekel’s profile continued to heighten during the next couple years. He co-wrote and was featured on the title song of Massive Attack’s 2016 EP Ritual Spirit, and appearing on Gorillaz’s 2017 album Humanz — he contributed background vocals to “Momentz” and was featured on the deluxe-edition track “Midnite Float” — Azekel devoted more time to his own material. After taking a semi-hiatus following the launch of his 2018 release Our Father and subsequent collaborative track Learn to Love with anaiis, he returns with his latest project – the mixtape, Analyze love. Born out of a period of lockdown induced isolation, the project united a global community of collaborators at a time when the longing for interaction and shared moments was at its height, the collaborators include: Professor George, Kwesi Arthur , Nao, Kojey Radical, Ebo Taylor, Ivy Sole, anaiis, DAP the Contract, Made Kuti, Moses Boyd, Kokoroko and Azekel’s daughter Amariah.
