Fond of Rudy: International Showcase Fund
One can’t help but feel if your eye glanced across a crowded pub and it met with the four ‘likely lads’ from Brighton/London – there wouldn’t be anything to set them aside from any other banter fuelled, long standing bunch of mates. And yet, this Indie-Pop quartet has been stealthily creating waves of interest from industry and fans alike over the past year (BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, Clash Music, performances at Great Escape 2016, Blissfields, LeeFest and a host of prestigious blogs and festivals). It seems their success so far has been in part down to having the right music at the right time – a point further proved when earlier this year they caught the ear of the organisers of Canadian Music Week. “CMW is where a lot of the big names gather and share music, advice and ideas to help steer the compass of international music trend. To be invited was humbling and we simply had to find a way to go”, explains lead singer Matt, “when we heard that the PRS Foundation were willing to fund enough to make the trip happen, we were all ecstatic! For unsigned bands like us, it creates a world of exciting opportunities unattainable without funding”
Fond Of Rudy have enlisted some talented individuals to help them on their journey so far, including hotly tipped producer Martin Hannah. “Mart plays a 5th band member role and is a key component in bringing together different creative perspectives to create that infectious Indie-Pop sound”.
