Eurosonic 2024:  Showcase at Eurosonic, Groningen, Netherlands, 2024

Chalk is the three-piece project of Irish musicians Ross Cullen (Vocals), Benedict Goddard (Guitar) and Luke Niblock (Drums). The band was formed in 2019 (but remained dormant until 2022) after they met while studying film and realised they shared the same musical vision and ambitions.

With their dance music-inspired take on gothic post-punk rhythms and towering industrial techno, Chalk has earned tastemaker praise on both sides of the Atlantic. With champions in the media (Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Jack Saunders) and publications (NME, Dork, Consequence Of Sound), they’ve gone from mysterious newcomers to hype-fulfillers in under 12 months.

This international showcase fund supports Chalk’s journey to Eurosonic in Groningen, Netherlands. Without this help from PRS, Chalk would be unable to make this journey due to the financial constraints placed upon working musicians. With this help, Chalk’s goal, alongside playing a great show in the Netherlands, is to secure a national promoter to secure further live performances in the Netherlands and utilise this trip as an introduction to Central and Western festivals and venue bookers. With new music soon to be released just before the festival, Chalk feels this is the perfect time to introduce themselves to the Dutch market.
