Supporting 5-track EP & UK Tour

Chalk is a 3-piece electronic/post-punk project based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Influenced by their love of film and the emerging Belfast dance scene, Chalk’s image-driven soundscape is composed of wailing guitars, a relentless rhythm section, and an unwavering vocal with incredible rawness at its core. Their visual approach as seen in their self-made music videos, interweaves with their sound in an evocative fashion. Their debut single, ‘Them’, won Steve Lamacq’s 6 Music Roundtable Record of the Week, was recorded with producer Chris W Ryan (Robocobra Quartet). The latest track ‘Velodrome’ is a relentless assault on all the senses, channelling pulsating breakbeats of The Prodigy & the gothic-punk nature of The Birthday Party. Blending techno-infused vocal samples with war-siren guitars, Chalk’s image-driven soundscape remains as gritty as ever. A 5-track EP will be released in May 2023 alongside a string of shows across the UK including The Great Escape, Brighton were they have been selected as part of ‘First Fifty’ acts announced.

“The love of the dance scene meets the love of raw darkly atmospheric noise… Gothic sounding guitars duel with the sensory overload of a techno club.” – Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music.

” A band that are filled with TNT…a sucker punch of a blow to the chest…such an exciting starting point” – Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 1

“The most exciting Northern Irish guitar band in years” – BBC Introducing

“This band is raw, they bring energy… I’m a big fan of what they do.” – Gemma Bradley, BBC Radio 1
