Contemporary Music for All (CoMA): The Open Fund For Organisations

CoMA Festival 2024

Contemporary Music for All is a participatory new music charity, dedicated to opening new contemporary classical music to everyone. We believe passionately in celebrating participation in new music-making as a meaningful and essential part of our lives. Our organisation has grown from a single initiative – an annual new music summer school – to a multi-faceted organisation with an international network of ensembles open to all abilities. CoMA hosts regular year-round ensembles in 12 locations throughout England and Europe, a biennial summer school and festival, sector conferences, composer courses and regular all comer events.

PRSF Open Fund will support the commissioning programme of our fifth biennial Festival of Contemporary Music for All (March 1-24, 2024). This includes 6 open (flexible) score instrumental and vocal works, a massed ensemble commission exploring climate change activism, to be performed simultaneously live and digitally and collaborative workshops in inclusive music making, with a specific focus on how to write for iPad instrument. Together with additional projects supporting young creators, CoMA will continue are partnership with Drake Music Scotland to provide development workshops for commissioned creators, exploring methodologies and tools composers can implement, which make music more accessible to musicians living with a variety of disabilities.
