Dean Bryce

Artist Manager and Director, Don’t Sleep

Dean Bryce’s love for music culture began in the 1980’s. Growing up around Saxon Sound system in South London exposed Dean to the value of music as a cultural commodity that can be embraced. Saxon had scored top 40 records and are arguably the pioneers of British MC culture and had proven what can be done at a DIY level.

Whilst at university Dean landed himself a music management assistant job, working with Roots Manuva and MJ Cole and learnt all he could about the music business. After graduating, and establishing himself as a talented A&R person, Dean went on to sign two Mercury music prize winning artists for independent record label Ninja Tune as well as releasing Peggy Gou’s early music through his Technicolour imprint.

After a role as Boiler Room’s global head of music in 2019 Dean founded Don’t Sleep as a music venture to develop, support and release music from artists who push culture forward. One of the first artists to be developed by Don’t Sleep was the then unknown artist Berwyn who Don’t Sleep negotiated a deal with for Columbia records.

Don’t Sleep release music via their partnership with PIAS.

“As well as being genuinely happy to be part of the POWER UP network I’m also looking forward to sharing knowledge and gaining insight from others.” Dean Bryce
