Dominie Hooper: Women Make Music

Dominie Hooper second EP, produced by Kate Stables (ThisIsTheKit)

Following an incredible track record as a collaborator and session musician working with the likes of Tom Odell, 7X Grammy-nominated Yola, BBC Folk Award winner Ríoghnach Connolly, and Alabaster Deplume, 2022 has seen the launch of Dominie Hooper’s ambitious solo venture. Her debut EP ‘ANNO’ was described as “Beautiful, challenging, fruitful…captivating” (Liverpool Sound & Vision), and “confident and impressive” (Fatea), and was triumphantly celebrated with a sell-out debut headline tour in June ’22. As a recipient of PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music award, Dominie is now teaming up with Kate Stables (AKA This Is The Kit) who, as a career-first, will produce Hooper’s second EP, ALL SHIPS RISE – a triumphant celebration of queerness, survival and self-discovery. Set for a 2023 release, Women Make Music will ensure the messages in these songs reach far and wide, supporting the release of singles, videos and a tour. Hooper’s background in folk and alternative music have led her to explore new aesthetics with this record, leaning into warm yet heavier soundworlds – drums, electric-guitars, horns – whilst keeping true to folk roots through melody and lyricism. With the added playful grit of Kate Stables’ style, this next record promises a powerful landing. With PRSF support, 2023 looks bright for Dominie Hooper – look out and listen for this name.
