Eliane Correa: Women Make Music
Eliane Correa – O+
Pianist/composer/producer Eliane Correa has been one of the key figures of the Latin music scene in the UK for the past decade; asides from curating the London Latin Jazz Fest and directing an array of award-winning Cuban- and Latin-centric music projects, she tours as a soloist for The World Of Hans Zimmer and plays/produces for some of the most exciting up-and-coming female artists of the London scene such as Desta French, Colectiva and Amyra León. O+ is her fourth studio LP creation, and the first one that features simply her name as the artist rather than one of her projects (Wara, En el Aire, La Evolución). O+ seeks to create a collective musical journey that deconstructs Cuban musical coding in a cinematic, freeform jazz-inspired direction. The world-class musicians taking part in this project, such as Hammadi Valdés on percussion, Alley Lloyd on bass and Rosie Turton on trombone, are all either Cuban/Latinx or female, as a statement of musical positionality.
