Ex-Easter Island Head: PPL Momentum Accelerator

Ex-Easter Island Head album and tour support

Ex-Easter Island Head (2009-) are a UK-based musical collective composing and performing music for solid body electric guitar, percussion and other instruments.
The group incorporates multiple electric guitars augmented through mechanical preparations and extended techniques to create works that explore group interplay, repetition and melodic invention through purposefully limited means.
The group have received significant critical acclaim for their live performances and recordings from the likes of The Wire, Pitchfork, the Quietus and the New York Times, with the group receiving airplay on the BBC, NTS and more. Their two volumes of library and production music for EMI/KPM – Mechanical Landscapes One and Two – have seen use on television and radio productions internationally. Performances have taken place in venues ranging from the tiny Scottish island of Iona to a 150-year old brewery in Berlin and include appearances at Stewart Lee’s ATP, Supersonic and Le Guess Who? festivals.

PPL Momentum Accelerator is providing the group with with funds to support the release of tjeirupcoming album Norther, releasing 17th May via Rocket Recordings. The molney will fund a PR campaign for the record – print ads, targeted social media ads etc – and to support the costs of live touring to promote the release. By mitigating some of the costs associated with playing live – van hire, petrol;, food etc – the funding will allow the group to expand their touring circuit and engage new listeners.
