Flo Perlin: Women Make Music
The recording and promotion of Flo Perlins’ third album
Flo Perlin is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter from London, UK with jewish-Iraqi and Belarusian heritage. She has been hailed as a ‘true storyteller’ by BBC Radio 6 with a style that blends contemporary folk, jazz and soul. The songs explore themes such as family history, human nature and being good to yourself. Her unique, emotive voice and lush instrumentation draws you deeper into her lyrics revealing more with every listen.
Flo released her first album, ’Cocooned’ in 2017, an EP ’Stories’ 2019, a single ‘Life Lives Inside’ in 2021 and a second album ‘Characters’ in July 2021. This second album led to Flo gaining a wide international audience, with her single ‘Baghdad’ gaining 3 million streams on Spotify. This led to a string of high profile gigs and festivals throughout 2022 including Cambridge Folk Festival, Wilderness, Celtic Connections and Americana Festival plus headline shows at The Green Note, West Hampstead Arts Club and Trinity Theatre.<br />Flo was invited to do a live performance and interview on BBC Radio 2 for the Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe. She also gets regular airplay on BBC 6 Music, Folk Radio UKand other regional BBC stations. Flo will be using PRS Foundation funding to record and promote her third album, building a team of talented people to help make this album truly special. In Flo’s words “I want others to listen to my new album and find lightness in discomfort, to bring the listener into a private universe where they can be introspective together”.
