Grounded Sounds: The Open Fund for Organisations

EP Accelerator 2

Using the power of music, Grounded Sounds (GS) aims to transform the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, empowering them through development of their skills and confidence for the future. The charity provides an accessible platform to nurture and develop the talent of 11–24-year-old musicians through a range of programmes targeted at different age groups, providing continuity as they grow developmentally and creatively. Our programmes provide high quality, creative experiences with talented, qualified workshop leaders supported by GS alumni, which develop musical talent as well as young people’s confidence and life skills, supporting their transition into adulthood and career prospects. Grounded Sounds aims to be a sustained and positive influence on these young people’s lives.

Our PRS Open Funded Project, EP Accelerator 2, will engage a new cohort of three, 18–24-year-old emerging artists in South London who are from socio-economic deprived backgrounds, giving them the support to step their productivity and start releasing music, with the framework and boost they need to fulfil their potential. Accelerator 2 will run over a 6-month period to support each individual in the creation, recording and release plan of a 3 track EP. It will arm the young artists with strong industry partnerships and essentially include 1-to-1 mentoring with industry experts from organisations, song writing development time and music industry advice workshops to support them with planning for the release of their EP. Following the 6 months, GS will continue to mentor, support and promote the young people who have completed the programme.
