Known to his peers as IRFAN RAINY, he started out as an avid music collector of vinyl recordings more than two decades ago. Specialising in primarily Black Music, dating back to the post Be Bop Jazz, Blues, Funk and continuing with contemporary dance music forms. A DJ/ Producer career in his specialist music began post university study and continues to this day. Taking himself out of the norms of deejaying in nightclubs towards more unsual spaces including car parks, art galleries and industrial spaces.

The art and love of deejaying has led to performances in sixteen countries to date, covering Brazilian Samba parties in New York to Arab Electronica in Casablanca, as well as presenting radio shows on Kiss Fm. Having also performed at the long running Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland as well as Millenium Hogmanay in Glasgow to an audience of over forty thousand.

Running his own record label RAINY CITY MUSIC and programming events to showcase the label’s work has dominated during the last decade. Continuing to bring international guest performers at his current New York influenced Roots House Music party COMMUNITY, which takes place at the CONTACT THEATRE in Manchester. His latest project RHYTHM FEST in association with CONTACT will occur during Black History month this October, 2010.
