Jamal Woon: The Hitmaker Fund

Jamal will use his Hitmaker grant to enhance his professional trajectory, investing in software, hardware, and studio equipment upgrades. This facilitates sessions for leading artists and aids emerging local talents. With escalating interest from the US, marked by multiple writing camp invitations, he plans two trips next year to fortify his networks and establish his stature as a sought-after producer/writer. Importantly, the grant ensures Jamal can maintain his studio, preserving his workflow and allowing him to embrace opportunities that, while not lucrative upfront, pave the way for more substantial projects in the future.

His impressive portfolio includes producing music for renowned artists such as Bad Bunny, Sauti Sol, Joeboy, Oxlade, Major Lazer, Victony, Ayra Starr and more. Dera’s versatility shines across various genres and styles, with a focus on R&B, Afrobeat, electronic pop, and rap.
