Without Hearts, There Is No Home
Project description: “Without Hearts There is No Home” is a conceptual EP, story-telling through music and visuals. The EP will depict a generational love, with themes based around belonging, home, self-love, self-worth and displacement through the lens of a black woman. It’s a message to listeners, illustrating that whenever they feel alone in society, love and home resides inside them. The EPs musical style is fusion of alternative RnB, Soul and Electronic genres.
Bio: Kaia Laurielle is a singer/songwriter from South East dedicated to pushing the boundaries of storytelling through music. As a champion for black love her lyrics tell the stories of those forgotten or overshadowed. Many of us have been shown images of love we cannot relate to. Kaia showcases the importance of redefining love with themes such as nostalgia, intimacy and self-love and what it means in the black community. She has performed at venues such as KOKO, EartH Hackney, Southbank’s Purcell Room and the Jazz Cafè. She has also performed on BBC live lounges as well as supporting rapper Lowkey on his European tours. She was shortlisted in 2022 for the NTS and Paco Rabanne A Million Ways to make it programme; she has previously been funded by the PRS Foundation with the Women’s Make Music Grant as well as the Mobo Trust Fund.
