The Immigrant Kid
The PPL Momentum Fund award is supporting the creation and release of Kima Otung’s upcoming EP, “The Immigrant Kid”. This EP will document the artist’s experience of growing up as a child of immigrant parents, and how she has navigated being caught in the middle of two cultures that contrasted one another in many ways. It will tell the tale of her journey of learning to love herself, to being a flower that grew unwatered. It will also be a celebration of Otung’s story, and the identity the artist is grounded in.
“I have a layered experience of what it means to be British, like many modern Brits. Through this EP, I hope to advance the conversation around what it means to be British by sharing my story and the stories of others. I hope to concurrently advance my mission for inspiring self-love and self-belief in women and marginalised people.”
