Kymara: International Showcase Fund (ESNS)
Kymara will take you on a journey through her life. Her music is a combination of Nina Simone’s s storytelling songs, D’Angelo’s soulfulness and the purity and rawness of Janis Joplin. Often drawing from life experiences, the Netherlands-born, Brighton-based vocalist has spent the past three years building the foundations for a musical repository that exponentially explores what it means to be truly free. Kymara’s existential soul-revival, bolstered by the organic sounds of the accomplished band of instrumentalists, is as affecting in a live setting as it comes across on the record.
With the help of the PRS for Music Foundation Kymara is able to travel with the full band and give the performance envisioned. The Eurosonic Festival is the perfect place to perform after playing at The Great Escape Festival, selling out the Komedia and Green Door Store in Brighton and winning the Drake YolanDa Award this year.
