With generous support from the PRS for Music Foundation, Laura Jurd will be embarking on a twelve date UK tour in autumn 2013, promoting her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Landing Ground’, released in November 2012. The music on the album incorporates folkloric melodies and rhythms alongside a 20th Century harmonic sense with a splash of wit and finesse. For the tour Laura will be playing some of the compositions on the album, plus new material alongside musician’s Elliot Galvin – piano, Conor Chaplin – bass and Corrie Dick – drums. The Ligeti Quartet, the string quartet on the record will also be joining the group for four of the twelve tour dates.
With support from the PRS for Music Foundation the ensemble has been able to cover transport costs, boost artist fees to a professional rate and cover rehearsal and promotional costs. All of the artists involved are amongst the best in their field and play with upmost creativity and commitment. It is fantastic for the musicians and audiences alike that they will be taking their music-making to various parts of the UK, giving a variety of audiences the opportunity to experience new music, played to the highest level. The tour will enable Laura’s music to reach a wider audience, encourage sales of the album and increase the ensembles following by a significant amount. Having been given the support to promote the tour successfully, this will enable the audience outreach to increase and create greater awareness and interest in the project and musicians involved.
