Malaki Patterson is the Creative Director of youth charity The Music Works based in Gloucestershire, he has helped shape the vision and strategy for their new £1.8 million inclusive music hub which includes 4 recording studios, a broadcast room, sensory room and 200 capacity music venue. He also manages their artist development programme which supports 18 artists over 3 years who are at the point of developing their career into the creative industries. Malaki started out his career as a Music Producer and Recording Engineer, working in various studios across the south-west and working with various national and international artists. He featured in a BBC documentary called ‘Shooting The Mic’ raising the awareness of independent artists/producers trying to break into the industry during the early stages of their career.
He has worked in artist development for the past 10 years and has managed artists in early stages of their career, supporting them with touring, and signing and releasing music. He is the founder of annual black music festival Kings Jam, and launched Onatora Records a record label initiative through The Music Works.
He continues to support emerging artists by programming an annual seminar ‘Breaking into the Industry’, a series of panels, speakers, and workshops led by various industry professionals to help inspire and provide opportunities to young creatives who are looking to get into the music industry.
