Maruja – Debut Album

Maruja are one of the most exciting bands rising from the UK’s underground. Hailing from Manchester, the band comprises of lead vocalist/guitarist Harry Wilkinson, saxophonist Joe Carroll, drummer Jacob Hayes and bassist Matt Buonaccorsi. Together, the four members coalesce to form oceans, supernovae and all things chaotic and beautiful, swinging between noisy punk mayhem and sprawling jazz-infused post-rock passages, combined with spoken word and rap lyrics that tackle a range of topics from socio-political issues to mental health.

If that all sounds like a mouthful, that’s because it is! Yet, it doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of describing our music. It has to be seen to be believed! The PPL Momentum Music Fund will allow for the long-awaited recording of this music, a level of support of which we are left absolutely speechless by, and want to take this time to thank the entire grants team from the bottom of our hearts. You are all wonderful! This opportunity will allow us to have the freedom necessary to record our most exciting material to date, a goal which, for years, we have been working very hard to make a reality.

We have fans that tell us our music has helped change their lives for the better – this is something we take seriously, more than anything, as we believe wholeheartedly in the power of music.
