Album Recording & Showcase Performance – Mat Hunsley

Newcastle-based songsmith Mat Hunsley has been turning heads since 2016 when his debut EP ‘To Being Free’ drew comparisons to modern folk greats James Vincent McMorrow and Nathaniel Rateliff.

Hunsley returned in 2022 with a string of mature, impressive, self-produced releases culminating in the EP A Worrier’s Dream. After copious support from across the blogosphere, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing, Mat ended the year with the single Just The Family Inside. With intricacy akin to Fleet Foxes and bursting with charm comparable to Bright Eyes’ First Day Of My Life, Just The Family Inside provided yet further proof that Mat has become a writer comparable to few others. As a recent recipient of the PRS Foundation’s prestigious Open Fund, Mat now plans to realise his most ambitious recording project to date – a debut album rich with horns and strings. Using every inch of his hard earnt experience in music, Mat prepares to present his work on a grander scale than ever before and looks forward to celebrating the finale of the project in 2023.
