Mensa Ansah: The Open Fund for Music Creators

Mensa Ansah is a music producer, MC, songwriter, vocalist and rapper. He’s played an important role in how we experience contemporary Ghanaian and West African music and has spent over a decade inspiring audiences not only through his art but also as a deep thinker and social commentator.

“Bondzie – Speak Up” is Mensa Ansah’s highly anticipated new album. For the times we are living in, this album has become something more than just a release. Can a pandemic really isolate us and make us silent? Bondzie – Speak Up “A Live” is a way to create connections, give new meaning to collaboration, and keep spreading important conversations through performances, even when we are unable to physically congregate. Bondzie – Speak Up “A Live” is the beginning of a movement started as a personal journey and becoming a collective expression.

Mensa comments ‘Releasing a live recording during the pandemic, with all the (travel) restrictions, has value: it creates not only a bond and a connection with the audiences worldwide, but it’s an affirmation that artists will always find solutions to make the most difficult times an opportunity to create, and never give up.’ This project gives a new meaning to tracks recorded over the past two years re-interpreting the music, honouring Mensa Ansah’s Ghanaian heritage, Black musicians from the past to the present and the passion for music, one of the greatest Healing Powers.
