Kate Simko and The London Electronic Orchestra: Momentum
As founder of London Electronic Orchestra, Kate merges her background as a classical pianist and electronic music producer. After getting her start DJing Friday nights on Chicago’s WNUR radio station, Kate has since released her unique style of melodic house on top labels worldwide.
In 2014, Kate completed a masters degree in Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music, where she formed the LEO. Since then the LEO has created a buzz with their live show, which is an inimitable fusion of lush strings weaving in-and-out of synths and loose grooved beats, bringing classical music’s most ornate instruments back to the forefront. Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra will release their first EP and debut album via The Vinyl Factory.

Receiving the Momentum Fund will make a huge difference for our debut album. Recording orchestral instruments is a costly undertaking, and the Momentum Fund is making it possible. I’m very humbled and grateful to have received this grant!
The Momentum Music Fund will support the first London Electronic Orchestra EP, and help to record, produce, mix and market our first album. We’ll be recording in the studio with a 10-piece string ensemble, guest performers, and additional instruments like harp and woodwinds. The grant will help us actualise the album and get the word out via UK touring.
