Moving On Music’s Annual Programme and Artist Development
Established in 1995, MOM is the leading promoter of high quality, underrepresented music from the world of jazz, folk, roots, traditional, classical, electronic and ‘other’ music in Northern Ireland. We deliver an annual programme of activity which includes a concert series in Belfast, tours across NI, the newly established ‘Handmade Music’ – a monthly improvised music night in partnership with QUB and Accidental Theatre and Belfast’s only jazz festival, Brilliant Corners. We run education and outreach projects focused on bringing music to young people (School concerts) and developing new talent (Seldom Seen female jazz project).
We undertake event management and consultancy work, and partner other festivals and organisers. Additionally, we are involved in the development of artists working in underrepresented music and commissions new work. As well as showcasing and developing local talent, we are committed to introducing outside talent to the region, ensuring NI is a destination for world class touring artists, and is recognised as an outward looking music destination. One recent development has been the creation of a music agency and development project named Middle Aisle which works with over a dozen local artists.
