Feral Monsters, a new musical from National Theatre Wales

Feral Monsters is a new musical commissioned and produced by National Theatre Wales. Written by theatre-maker and screenwriter Bethan Marlow and directed by Izzy Rabey, the show celebrates the story of unremarkable teen, Jax, as she/they/whatever navigates love, sexuality, family and the many parts of her loud, opinionated brain.

The score is written by musical director and composer Nicola T. Chang, whose recent work includes For Black Boys Who Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy (Royal Court Theatre, West End) and RSC’s My Neighbour Totoro (Barbican). Feral Monsters features eight incredible new songs in a diverse range of styles, from garage, pop, hip-hop and R&B, that reflect the real, lived experience of young people.

The production will open in Cardiff in early 2024, before touring Wales and the UK.
