Whilst the building work takes place Contact will be working with award-winning artists and young people on a unique music project to create a 16-24 track LP of new music for tomorrow’s audiences through a time capsule for the year 2119.
Artists already confirmed or interested include Chunky, Cul-de-Sac, LayFullStop, Konny kon, Virus Syndicate, Purple Dyslexia and No Space, representing a mix of genres including Grime, UK Garage, Gypsy Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, Trap, Reggae, EDM, Neo Soul, House and World Music.
The project will culminate in a one-off event with live performances from featured artists to mark the grand opening of Contact’s refurbishment and the unveiling of the time capsule which will be embedded in Contact’s new building until it is opened in the year 2119.
