Ghost in the Machine: Behind the Magic of Electronic Music
‘Ghost in the Machine: Behind the Magic of Electronic Music’ will showcase two artists, Nik Void (UK) and Klara Lewis (Sweden) in collaboration with Deep Hedonia at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic alongside delivering an innovative series of female-led workshops. The workshops will be led by female coders, hackers, and music producers to help women/girls get to grips with using creative technologies and software for music-making, allowing them to explore an area which they statistically aren’t given the chance to experiment with. The project will provide participants with female role models within the field of electronic music.
Nik Void is an experimental electronic recording artist who has been making music for over 10 years. She is currently focusing more on solo projects, particularly within an arts context, having developed projects for ICA, Art Basel, Barbican, and Tate Modern and working with exceptional contemporary sound artists such as Haroon Mirza and Mark Fell. This project marks Void‘s commitment to developing new work outside of London, and to collaboration within her practice. Klara Lewis is a Swedish composer of experimental electronic music, born in 1993. Her critically acclaimed debut album Ett was released in 2014. This project will enable Klara and Nik to collaborate for the first time.
Since 2012, Deep Hedonia has hosted some of the most exciting acts in experimental electronic music, from big names such as Oneohtrix Point Never, Laurel Halo and Karen Gwyer to exciting upcoming talents like Yola Fatoush, Heatsick, and Palmistry.
