SOLO 2020 Season - Alex Groves

Alex will be creating two new works for solo strings and live electronics to be performed as part of his concert series SOLO. The first will be premièred at the end of March 2020 by violinist Rakhi Singh at CLF Art Café in Peckham and the second will be first performed in July (further details are still under wraps).

These new works build on his Curved Form series – a collection of pieces which blend classical instruments, ambient textures and live-processed electronics to create uncanny soundworlds where the line between acoustic and electronic, real and imagined becomes blurred.

Last year, Alex self-released his debut EP – Curved Form (No. 4) – a collaboration with pianist Eliza McCarthy which features the title track alongside remixes by Benjamin Tassie, Matt Huxley and Alex himself. Other recent work includes commissions for the London Contemporary Orchestra and Crash Ensemble, operas for English Touring Opera and ERRATICA, and residencies with Handel & Hendrix in London, Snape Maltings and the New Amsterdam Composers Lab.
