Iain Chambers: The Open Fund for Music Creators

Iain Chambers returns to fill the atmospheric subterranean Victorian space with a brand new programme.

At this year’s concerts the world-renowned new music ensemble Apartment House perform with the acclaimed vocalist Elaine Mitchener.

The concerts include the European premiere of Charles Mingus’s String Quartet No. 1 – never heard anywhere since its first performance in New York in 1972.

There’s recently unearthed music by the iconic American composer Julius Eastman, alongside new music by composers Julius Aglinskas and Iain Chambers, alongside poetry and music commissions spilling out in the Accumulator Chamber – a vast, cylindrical space housing the bridge’s original hydraulic lifting mechanism.
