The Magic Lantern Album Recording & Single Release

The Magic Lantern is the musical moniker of Jamie Doe, an artist dedicated to addressing the anxiety and fear in us all. Born in Australia before moving to the UK at 12, he is a part of a thriving scene of contemporary musicians living in London who sit across and between genres from folk to jazz, to go about things their own way.

Following his stunning third album ‘To The Islands’ released in November 2018 and his upcoming EP ‘The Life That I Have’ due in Jan 2020, Jamie gratefully acknowledges the support of the PRS for Music Foundation to record his fourth album of original songs this summer. The album’s first single will be released in the Autumn and be supported by a 10 date UK tour.

Finding himself in the most creative and challenging period of his life, The Magic Lantern’s fourth album will explore our bittersweet search for meaning in an age of uncertainty and the unexpected moments of joy that sustain us. Working with an ensemble drawn from East London’s thriving jazz scene, Jamie plans to capture the intimacy and openness of the groups emotional responses to the songs through a structured approach to collective music making that embraces unpredictable and unexpected moments. This album promises to be his most ambitious musical statement to date.

“Dreamy, beautiful. Something very, very special” – Lauren Laverne BBC 6 Music
