Riot Ensemble Commissions of Kit Downes and Alexander Hawkins
You may well know of the work of Kit Downes, Alexander Hawkins or The Riot Ensemble – but we doubt that you’re familiar with all three of us, and that’s why we’re hugely excited to be embarking on these commissions. Through workshops, Kit and Alexander will compose us new pieces that blend improvisation with notated music, combining their established collaborators (ENEMY and Evan Parker respectively) with Riot Ensemble musicians. These commissions will be premiered as part of a gig night in January where we will perform their new works alongside sets from each of the bands involved.
